the nursing drug handbook: an app for nurses

Medical Marketing and Media recently announced the launch of a new app designed specifically for nurses. For the first time ever the Nursing Drug Handbook 2013 will be published in app format by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a subsidiary of Wolters Kluwer Health. It includes almost 900 drug monographs, more than 3,000 generic and brand drug names, pill images and a dosing calculator. Why this is significant is that it is an indication that there is a need and market for apps made specifically for all of the different specialties at hospitals. long term brand metrics and social media

According to an article published by eMarketer, social media campaigns give a long-term boost to brand metrics. Their conclusions were based on a study conducted by BzzAgent regarding CPG (consumer packaged goods) and it found that social media campaigns provided an immediate boost to brand advocates willingness to recommend a product. The percentage increased from 39% to 61% percent immediately after being exposed to the campaign and stayed over 50% when asked about likelihood of recommendations up to a year out.

Although this is a small sample size and specifically about CPG, it does illustrate the impact of social media on brand metrics which eventually impact the bottom line. Just further evidence that social media should play an active role in any integrated marketing campaign.
